Matthew is a General Partner at Fin Capital, where he is responsible for investment sourcing, holding board responsibilities, and delivering operational value by guiding portfolio companies through capital raises, mergers and acquisitions, and successful exits. Prior to Fin Capital, Matthew was a Vice President in the Investment Banking Division of Goldman Sachs. In this role, Matthew executed M&A and capital raises on behalf of the firm’s financial services clients. At Goldman Sachs, Matthew also served as Secretary of the Firmwide Commitments Committee, which approves all IPOs, deSPACs, and equity-linked transactions globally, and as the ESG Captain for the Financial Institutions Group. Previously, Matthew was a Portfolio Manager at ClearArc Capital (a former division of Fifth Third Bank) where he helped develop the firm’s international investing strategy and manage its currency, derivatives, and mortgage-backed security investments. Matthew also worked in Fifth Third’s Private Bank developing and managing custom portfolios for institutions and ultra-high net worth individuals. Prior to a career in investing, Matthew was in the payments industry at Fifth Third Processing Solutions (now Global Payments) where he developed a healthcare vertical market for the firm’s merchant acquiring business. He began his career as an entrepreneur, founding and operating a wireless retail business before attending university. Matthew holds an M.B.A. from Columbia Business School, where he was selected as the McGowan Fellow, a Private Equity Fellow, and where he graduated with Dean’s Honor and Distinction. At Columbia, he authored cases for Emerging Financial Markets, founded the Fixed Income, Currency, and Commodities club and completed internships at Goldman Sachs and KKR. Matthew also holds a B.B.A. in Finance, magna cum laude, from Grand Valley State University, and is a Chartered Financial Analyst charterholder.
